My Mother in Spring

Terry Michelsen

My mother in spring
Would wash the clothes
And hang them on the line
Between the Lilac bushes
My mother and the clothes
Would smell like Lilacs
All year round
Forever more

My mother in spring
Would turn the mattresses
Without any help from us
Because we picked the Lilacs
And she would place Lilacs
At the four corners
We would smell like lilacs
Forever more
