Words of Motion

Jessica Ganem

Cognizant of my struggle
The pen held my hand
It urged me to write
Pleading me to emote

I sat passive and still
Staring at a hollow paper
As it screamed to be clothed
Impatiently waiting for words

I squeezed the pen
As we danced across the pages
The steps filled with parse
To annul responsibilities given

Someone began to emerge
Someone I could recognize
Someone that seemed familiar
Someone I could be

I let go of the empathetic pen
Handed over the hushed paper
Swallowing life´s bitter pill
I packed up and walked away
