Finding The Light

Kevin Thorburn

Fear not the dark, my child.
It will blanket and comfort you
From those not ready to accept
The great responsibility and joy
That you are.

Fear not the dark, my child.
Confusion and fear it can ease,
As you turn forward to your dreams
And the better life they will, to you,
Bestow.

Fear not the dark, my child.
Though promises go unfulfilled,
The pain can be lessened
When you rest yourself in the solitude
Of night.

Fear not the dark, my child.
Loneliness and heartache can be deadened
With the closing of your eyes
As you turn your thoughts away from what
Might have been.

Fear not the dark, my child.
A friend it has been, but now
Your eyes you can open
For you’ve come to a place
Where fear is no more.
