Winter-worn

Craig W. Steele

Even in the winter of your life, spring follows.
- Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts

Both back and shovel bent,
yet still more flakes are blown my way,
the drifts grown deeper day-to-day
until my soul is spent.

My heart lies winter-worn,
consumed by chaos, not at peace,
but yearning for a spring release
to beat anew, reborn.
