Who Killed the Sweetness?

Beate Sigriddaughter

Who killed
the sweetness of the orchard
blue cotton too poor for chiffon
but the sun
kisses without discrimination
or apology ignorant of
promiscuity April fragrant
in the trees

Nobody noticed the dying
thatís only natural
among the many secrets
of internal bleeding
one small heart stunned to
death doesnít show
the throb continues beating
beating long after the dance
is done
