|When the Internet first started, it was designed to be a text only medium. The idea of images on the web wasn't even considered. But now, only a few years later, graphics have become an important part of the web. Not only are web designers using images on their web pages, but there are websites devoted totally to selling graphics. The clipart that they sell is in a format(s) usable on the web and in print. Some of these clipart sites stand out against the crowd. pcCrafterR is such a website. |
pcCrafter.comR is a site owned by pcCrafter, Inc. Most retailers sell their clipart in packages of 1000's of images at a price of $30 to $40, but pcCrafter takes a different approach. Besides their larger packages called ImageArtR, they have smaller packages called Creatables. These Creatables have about 30 images each and, at this time, sell for about $5. This is a nice idea, don't you think? Each Creatable is theme related (i.e. Christmas, Gardening, Father's Day) and the images are exceptional artwork. Because these packages are small, they are easy to download from the web. But they are also available on CD. For either method you choose, there is a free downloadable image browser called a HugBug Browser. You use the browser to view the images in each theme or collection and copy the image you choose. From there you can paste (or drag and drop) the image into software programs such as MicrosoftR Picture ItR and then create a project for the web or for print.
Speaking of projects, there is more on the pcCrafter website besides their ImageArtR and Creatables. There is an extensive project library and a user forum, both which are geared toward crafting and scrapbooking. Two great ways to find and share project ideas. There is also a weekly newsletter which tells of new releases and projects.
For those serious users, there is the pcHugClubR. For a small monthly fee, members of the club get many benefits. First, they get two Creatables each month. But that's only the start. Each month there is a new desktop theme (wallpaper, cursors, icons for your computer) and a screensaver. For those like me who are constantly at the computer, it's nice to have something new to look at each month. Among other benefits, members also get a 20% discount on purchases from the pcCrafters website and a 15% discount on purchases from the Creative Xpress website.
If you use clipart for work or fun, check out pcCrafter's Angel Policy. Their Angel Policy rivals most clipart copyright policies. People who purchase their clipart can use the images to create hand crafted products and sale the finished products without violating their policy. Most clipart policies are not this flexible. Be good to yourself today. Take a break from your hectic day and visit the pcCrafter website.
