Espresso Shot Review

Matteo (Matt) Allegro is getting married and Clare Cosi is up to her elbows preparing the gourmet coffee and dessert bar for her ex-husbandís wedding to the hateful Breanne Summour. The New York society wedding is being held at the world-renowned Metropolitan Museum of Art and many famous guests are expected to attend.

Flashbacks of her own wedding to Matt remind Clare the best part of their match was the birth of their daughter, Joy. Although Clare does not want to remarry Matt, she does want him to find a better match than the high-maintenance Trend magazine editor and society queen.

Breanne does not realize that Matt moved back into the duplex above The Village Blend the week before their wedding, so that he can enjoy a few days with Joy. If she knew he was living with his ex-wife in such close quarters, the wrath of the jealous bride would be heard by all.

Starting the night of Mattís surprise bachelor party, a series of fatal accidents happen to those around Breanne. On the case are detectives Lori Soles and Sue Ellen Bass, aka the Fish Squad. Clare puts her feelings aside and begins her own investigation. After all, she may not like bridezilla, but she does want to keep Matt safe and out of her duplex so good-looking detective, Lieutenant Mike Quinn will feel free to visit more often.

Madame, Mattís mother, is still hoping that her son will drop his bride-to-be and marry Clare. Fast-paced and fun despite the murders, the engaging characters are like family to those who have followed the series from the beginning, although newcomers can jump right in and feel at home. The authors also include coffee making tips and several recipes with each book. The popular coffeehouse cozy mystery series has brought enjoyment to avid readers, and Espresso Shot will not disappoint.

The Coffeehouse Mystery series is written by a husband and wife team under the name Cleo Coyle. They live in New York City, haunt local coffeehouses, and drink a lot of Joe according to their blurb. The couple co-author numerous writing projects including the Haunted Bookshop Mysteries written under the pen name Alice Kimberly.
