I don't know about you, but my mother keep a baby book from the time I was born until I was five years old. Now that my mother has passed away I have come to treasure this book even more.
I am not one to keep all sorts of keepsakes and place them chronologically in a book for each of my children, so I sat down and brainstormed. I want to share with you the idea I came up with so my children will have a legacy of their childhood to treasure some day just as I have.
I love to journal, and I assume you too, or why would you be subscribed to this newsletter! So I thought about combining my love of journaling and the stories of my three childrens life into separate journals that create a record of this precious time.
I went out and bought three brand new journals. Each one is a special color. My oldest loves purple so I got her a purple leather journal that holds one photo on the front cover. My middle child loves pink so I bought her a pink one and my baby loves green/teal so I bought her this color. Each of their journal/albums has a place for a photo in the front cover.
Then I began writing down all about each child's pregnancy and how we discovered God had blessed us with a new blessing! I made sure I noted all the important facts: Like where they were born, when they were born, how they were born, time and place and who was in attendance. I also included some of their cute cuddly baby pictures as they laid in the hospital. At this point I included their foot prints and arm bands so they can see how small their feet were. Then I continued with when we brought them home and where we brought them home to. I took photos of their room and included them. Of course each child had a different theme!
I also included personal information for them, like, who their doctor was, how much they weighed, how long they were and how much hair they had on their birthday.
I also did some research as to what happened on that day in the world and included the print out of all the important things besides their birth that happened this day. I thought this would be cute for them to look back on when they get older to see what shares their special day.
I also included a sometimes daily and mostly weekly journal about their growth and developmental habits each one had. I included photos again here and family members that shared this special time. At each birthday I also included a copy of their hand prints so they can see how they've grown from year to year.
I have also included some of the projects they have created in Sunday School or craft class. I also included a journal of their God Experience. Prayers answered, how they came to know God, etc.
You can create your own baby journal/album anyway you want, but I wanted to share some of mine with you to get you started on your child's legacy.
Some other examples might be an adoptive album sharing the journal leading up to the adoption and that joyous day. Teenage years journals/albums, grade school journals/albums, middle school journals/albums, etc. The possibilities are endless.
