Health Benefits of Bee Pollen

Bees produce bee pollen to provide a super-nutrient food that produces high energy levels so worker bees can make honey. Along with its unique superfood qualities, bee pollen is such that it can also be useful in healing a number of animal ailments. It is a rich source of protein, with high levels of vitamins A, B, C, D, E, K, in addition to significant levels of copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, folic acid, lecithin, zinc, omega-3, and omega-6 fatty acids. The composition of bee pollen is so impressive that studies show it is possible to maintain a healthy animal and human existence on bee pollen consumption alone. Therefore, it is little wonder that this superfood could provide preventative measures and healing assistance to animals.

Bee pollen contains a great deal of the bioflavonoid rutin, which promotes a healthy circulatory system and reduces the risk of heart disease, lung issues, and stroke. Because this resource consists of approximately 40 percent protein, it can help animals regulate a positive weight. The enzymes maximize energy by aiding metabolism through proper food digestion and nutrient absorption. In addition, it is beneficial in reducing allergies and skin aliments through gradual consumption. Much like allergy shots and vaccinations, bee pollen can help the body build a resistance to components that can otherwise trigger an undesirable reaction. Through regular consumption, research suggests that bee pollen provides constructive immune system support. This is helpful to animals experiencing issues such as arthritis or diabetes.

The general rule of thumb is to administer 1 tablespoon (14.8ml) per 100 lbs. (45kg) to receive the full health benefits from bee pollen. Of course, if there are any allergy concerns consult a veterinarian, ideally one well versed in natural remedies.

Be sure to thank that bee!

It takes one worker bee eight hours a day for an entire month to produce 1 teaspoon (5ml) of this superfood. More than 2 million pollen grains make up a single pollen pellet. That is roughly 2.5 billion grains to 1 teaspoon (5ml).

Consider donating bee pollen to your local animal shelter. It helps the shelter keep costs down and animals healthy while they await adoption.
