Before I can get into why animal causes are worthwhile, I need to outline the hypocrisy that plagues me about it. Does anybody else find it unsettling that we have spent billions on conservation projects to “resolve wildlife issues” and still have not worked out an effective solution? We have spent billions for essentially one thing, keeping humans away from the wild animal population.
I submit that the basic truth is that they do not need us tinkering in their lives. They just need us to leave them and their habitats alone. Do we do that? No. So now, we have to set up funds, organizations, rallies, and endangered species lists. Why? Fundamentally, it is for the lack of moral, social, intellectual, and individual control.
Animals have a natural ability to not cull their prey to extinction, a talent that humankind has yet to master. They understand that a symbiotic relationship with their prey allows them and their future generations to survive. In effect, Animal Life is not directly about saving animals. Rather, it is how we effectively protect them from people.
When an overzealous species, like humans, collides with the inherent harmony of nature, things begin to unravel. The natural order dies and man remains ambivalent to the necessity of balance until we hit critical mass. This community works towards changing that reality. Together we examine animal and wildlife issues in the news. We take a hard look at how politics attempt to shape our views towards animal welfare and examine how animal sustainability impacts all of our lives. Along the way, we learn more about the mysteries of the animal kingdom, compare animal mores to our own, and resolve to become more involved in achieving a balanced coexistence.
My job as a writer is to make people think and inspire positive action. I take my work very seriously. Each reader has a voice with this community and me. Together we inform, guide, and share our views through lively dialog in the Animal Life Forum area. For those interested in keeping abreast of updates to the site sign up for the weekly newsletter.
Feel free to contact me with your thoughts, suggestions, and ideas. I look forward to getting to know each reader and growing with this community.
Those who retain the heart and spirit of what it means to be human are truly the most fortunate. Welcome to the Animal Life journey!
