Natural Remedies for Dandruff

Dandruff is the combination of shedding skin and inflammation of Sabaceous glands. Sabaceous glands supply the oil for your hair. Dandruff has nothing to do with hygiene. It isnít dry scalp from over shampooing. Less frequent shampoos may result in leaving more flakes in your hair.

Often dandruff is caused by Pityrosporum ovale, a common yeast-like fungus that lives on oil. This naturally occurring fungus is found on skin surfaces but is often found in excess in dandruff sufferers. It can be caused by food allergies, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, neurological disorders (such as Parkinsonís disease) or weak immune system. Heavier dandruff can result from eczema or psoriasis (an increased shedding of scalp skin cells.
