Knowing how these herbs react with your body is very important and should be researched before taking any herb.

What most people do not realize is that herbs can cause adverse reactions to your body even interact with the current medication that you are taking. Garlic is not good if you are on blood thinners. Antidepressants and St. Johnís-wort do not mix well. Do not take Ginseng and stimulants.

People allergic to pollen could be allergic to chamomile. Flaxseed can increase certain bowel conditions. Rosemary can be harmful during pregnancy.

As you can see, herbs can be beneficial and also harmful. With the abundance of information out there, anyone who is about to take an herb should research it and even consult with your doctor. You should be looking for herbs to enhance your life instead of making it more difficult.

Being informed about herbs is really easy. With the availability of information today, there is no shortage of resources. The internet is a plethora of information. Always check your sites before accepting what they have to say. See when was the last time the site was updated, read about the author(s), see what others say about them. Keep in mind that anyone can start a website and put any information out there whether it is true or not. Do not risk your health on such sites.

There are many books on herbs. Research your local library or begin building your own library to have as a ready reference. Mark pages for easy access on topics that are more common in your household.

Another great source is your local health book and herb store. Talk to them and test their knowledge. If it sounds like a sales pitch, run. If they are knowledge and have a good reputation, use them as a source of what you are taking. If you do not have a local herb specialist nearby, check with your pharmacist for any interactions or dangers.

Do not treat herbs as just some seasoning that also heals. Herbs have many natural chemicals in them that can be both harmful and helpful. Treat herbs with respect. Learn about them and use them correctly. Only then will you get their full benefits.
