I can.

"I can, therefore I am."
Simone Weil

I receive a daily quote in my email inbox each morning, a lot of them are inspiring, others are funny and others are odd. As I have said before a lot of the quotes that I mention seem to be motivational or inspirational statements that people follow and I think that is where the quote that I have chosen today also slots in.

I believe this quote to be more of a saying or a statement that we might say to ourselves in our head to help us get through a situation. The reason I used it in this article was because it was short and sweet, it rhymed giving it that element of memory as it catches in your head and also it makes sense, it does not have an element that you have to dig deep to figure out the meaning. Sometimes these quotes are best, the fact that it rhymes helps it stay in our heads and therefore will help us use it in more situations. This is also true for the fact that it is a short quote, not long winded with a range of possible meanings. Similarly it is simple, and sometimes this quotes are the best. Although it is interesting to find quotes which are complicated and take time to figure out, they are not easy to follow when they are like this.

I can, therefore I am

I really like this quote, it has a lot of strength packed in it. The way I read it applies to what someone wants to do with their lives. What do they want to be? What career path do they want to take? If we take our own personal goals, I would like to be a journalist and if we fit it into this quote it gives us the idea that we can be whoever we want to be, and we can do whatever we want to do as long as we have the motivation and determination and knowledge to know how to get there. I can be a journalist.. it is not impossible and it is something that is achievable and therefore I am one. I have the motivation and drive in me to pursue this and so why can I not call myself a journalist already?

What aspirations do you have? Can you fit it into this quote?
