About the BellaOnline Quotations Editor

Greetings!

My name is Beth and I am the Quotations editor for BellaOnline. Born and raised in the Kansas City, Missouri area, I have spent the last 8 years living in Northwest Arizona, in a small town about 90 miles southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. I am married to my best friend and soul mate. I am step-mom to two wonderful boys, grandmother to 2 boys and 1 girl, and mom to 1 dog and 2 cats.

When I´m not working or writing, I crochet, I watch TV, I read. I love baseball, football, and NASCAR. I´m a trivia geek. My family hates to play Trivial Pursuit with me because I always win. We watch a lot of movies at my house. We quote movies constantly. We´ve even had entire conversations that are nothing but movie quotes.

The Wizard of Oz is my all-time favorite movie. I first saw it when I was about 5 years old. I was fascinated with the story, the fantasy, the Munchkins, the Scarecrow, the Yellow Brick Road, and yes, even the flying monkeys. After seeing it for the first time, I built a yellow brick road in my bedroom. It wasn´t exactly yellow, and it wasn´t brick, but in my mind´s eye, it was the path to Oz. As I got older, watching the movie every year on TV, I would understand more and more about the story, the struggle between good and evil. I was also still fascinated with the fantasy. I have watched it so many times, I know the lines by heart. I quote it often. It´s no wonder that my favorite quote of all time comes from The Wizard of Oz, towards the end, when the Wizard is giving the Tin Man his heart. “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others”. Pure, simple, true.

My goal with this site is to try and present quotes in a new light. I will quote from movies, books, music, history. I will analyze quotes. I will look into why we say certain things. I will write about the origin of popular quotes. Most of all, I want this site to be enjoyable, to you, and to me. If you have a favorite quote, or are curious about a quote, please drop me a line or post in the forum. I´d love to hear from you.
