The Girl Who Disappeared Twice Review

The Girl Who Disappeared Twice opens with a harrowing account of the kidnapping of a young girl while her twin sister slept next to her. Six-year-old Felicity was never seen again. Thirty-two years later, her twin sister Hope relived the tragedy when her own daughter was kidnapped.

Now a family court judge, Hope left work early excited to spend quality time with her five-year-old and hear about her day in kindergarten. Little did she know how close she came to her daughter as she hurried home; like two ships passing in the night. When Hope realized Krissy had been kidnapped, memories of the past came crashing down.

Hope’s husband Edward was a prominent defense attorney. When he realized his daughter was missing, he made a call that led to the FBI sending in a specialized team of agents. Not satisfied with the results, and against her husband’s wishes, Hope called Forensic Instincts. The brainchild of Casey Woods, Forensic Instincts was a team of handpicked experts in their field hired to solve difficult cases while often working outside the law.

Just coming off another case, and with no time to recuperate, Casey gathered her team together and headed to the judges house. There she picked up signs that all was not well in the household.

Knowing that the first twenty-four hours after a kidnapping is crucial in finding the victim, Casey and her team begins to dig deep into family history. The investigator for Felicity’s unsolved kidnapping believes the two are connected, while other clues take the team into different directions and time begins to run out.

The Girl Who Disappeared Twice by Andrea Kane combines mystery, romance, numerous suspects, hidden family secrets, a dog named Hero and even the mafia, in one fascinating story. There is plenty of action and false leads, numerous possible suspects, and a family torn apart for a second time.

A bestselling author of both romantic thrillers and historical romances, Kane has crafted such hits as Twisted and Drawn in Blood, featuring FBI Special Agents Sloane Burbank and Derek Parker.

Although readers may need to suspend belief at times, this action-packed thriller will keep them turning pages in anticipation as the renegade team of investigators rarely works within the law. The last chapter reveals Forensic Instincts adds a few more mavericks to their team, leading readers to believe there are more great stories to come. As one character says, “Bring it on.”
