Alzheimer's is Making Me Feel Hollow Inside - What Can I Do?

Dear Debbie,

I am in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and I feel hollow inside. I am very aware of what is going on or is not going on in my head. I feel like a shadow of my former self. Can you give me some advice to help me adjust? My doctor says that I am unusually cognitive of the changes that the disease brings. Please help.
(Muddled and Miserable).

Dear Friend,
Human beings are beautifully engineered to adapt. Let go of what you were in the past, so that you can live in the present. If you can make up your mind to do this, then you will no longer perceive yourself as a shadow of your former self. Alzheimer’s Disease progresses differently in people. Ask your doctor about Aricept, Reminyl or Exelon which can improve cognition and significantly slow down the course of the disease. Make sure to address your emotional well being by doing some of the following:Make each day a joyous, loving experience. Take photographs to capture beautiful landscapes and people who hold special meaning for you.
