Antique Magic Review

Twenty-eight-year-old Alicia Trent is co-owner of an antique store in Scottsdale, Arizona. She and her partner specialize in high-end items of all kinds and she is well-qualified for the job that has landed in her lap. The son of a wealthy widow commissioned Alicia to sort through the jumbled collection of items his mother had collected for years. His mother recently died and left a huge house full of antiques of all kinds, but no record of where or when the purchases were made or how much they were worth.

Ali agreed to temporarily stay at the mansion while processing and organizing the collection and entertaining bids from collectors. With a friendly and efficient housekeeper in place and a security guard living on the property, Ali was all set to begin her task. Soon after she settled in, she realized there was a magical feel to the old house.

But Ali was shocked when she found a collection of magic books that were not about magical tricks, but real magic. Shortly after that, weird things began to happen when she found a knick-knack that made strange swirling patterns and changed colors seemingly on a whim. Ali also came across a list of names that included hers and included a note at the bottom that indicated Mrs. Hall couldnít figure out who her betrayer was.

With a growing number of strange occurrences and at least one attempt on her life, Ali was determined to find out whether Mrs. Hall was actually murdered, if so why, and who may also want Ali dead as well. Wondering how Mrs. Hall could also see into the future, somehow knowing Ali was going to be involved in her home after Mrs. Hallís death, Ali was determined to complete the job she was hired to do no matter the cost.

Antique Magic was superbly written by Eileen Harris, and one of the best novels Iíve read in quite a while. To say it is fast-paced is an understatement! The characters are interesting and believable, the plot intriguing, and the story a page-turner with twists and turns that will keep readers engaged. The ending may or may not be a surprise, but it will be satisfying.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope to read further mysteries written by Harris. She has a knack for keeping the pages turning. Every time I was going to put the book down to do something else, the next sentence would catch my eye and I would keep reading.

This will make a fabulous summer read at the beach, although sitting by a warm fire in the middle of the winter sounds just as good. Grab it up soon if you are looking for a truly magical time.

A special thank you goes to Eileen Harris and A Wings ePress, Inc. for sending a complimentary copy of Antique Magic for our review. If you are interested in a copy, you can pick one up at Amazon.com.
