This set continues the second story arc on Box Set 3, where Yamato, Naruto, Sakura, and Sai have been dispatched to deal with Kabuto and to find Sasuke in order to bring him back to the Leaf Village. This box set is a treat for Sasuke fans, since he finally makes an appearance during the episodes in this disc outside of Naruto's flashback sequences. The episodes in this set also provide character development for Sai, which helps the viewer to start better understanding why he is the way he is.
On each disc in the set, you can choose to watch all of the episodes or you choose which episode you want to start with. You can also set your language and subtitle options, and you can also view the extras included on the disc.
The first disc has three extras included. The first is a set of trailers, which start automatically when you select the trailers option. The trailers included on this disc are for the Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Council 4 videogame, the Naruto Shippuden: Legends Akatsuki Rising videogame, Naruto Shippuden, Naruto Shippuden: The Movie, and Bleach the Movie 2: The DiamondDust Rebellion. The second feature is listed as "New From Viz Media." The link takes you to four pages of advertisements for Shonen Jump magazine, the Naruto manga, and other Shonen Jump titles. The third link is "Online Features"; all this contains is two screens that show where to purchase Viz Media titles online. The second disc also has three extras, and they are exactly the same as the extras that are found on Disc One.
The third disc has seven extras. The first is "Trailers," which contains trailers for the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3 videogame, the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 Project videogame, the Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Council 4 videogame, Naruto Shippuden: The Movie, and Bleach the Movie 2: The DiamondDust Rebellion. "New From Viz Media" and "Online Features" are exactly the same as what appeared on the previous two discs.
Next is "Voice Actor Featurette: Who's Playing Who?" This feature introduces the voice actors who are participating (Maile Flanagan, Kate Higgins, Dave Wittenberg, Ben Diskin, Troy Baker, Roger Craig Smith, and Johnny Yong Bosch), as well as ADR Director Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. This feature has the dub actors switching parts, and it becomes a quiz for the viewers to guess which incorrect voice actor is voicing the character; there are a total of 10 questions. Overall, this was a rather easy quiz, especially if you pay attention to what order the voice actors are introduced in at the beginning of the feature.
"Relationship Chart: Hidden Sound Village" has the viewer select an image to see how the characters connect. Included in this feature are Sasuke, Orochimaru, and Kabuto. "Production Art" has 15 screens of production sketches of the characters. The final extra is "English Credits," where you can see the credits for the English dub.
I really enjoyed the episodes that appeared on this set, especially since the story is at a point where Sasuke has reappeared and allows the viewer to see how he's changed since he was last seen. I also appreciated that the set was broken up in a way where the last episode of the set ends the story arc, but that the next story arc isn't introduced yet.
If you're a fan of the Naruto franchise and want to have all of the episodes of the series on DVD, I would recommend purchasing this box set.
I wrote this review after watching a copy of this DVD box set that I checked out through the King County Library System.
