I’ve been watching anime and reading manga since I was 14 and got dragged into the anime club by my friends at my high school. I was one of those ‘too-serious’ people and I was absolutely convinced I was going to hate anime. I had no idea what anime was and had decided that I was too mature to watch “cartoons.” But I let my friends drag me to the anime club one day and got my first taste of anime.
The very first show I watched was Inuyasha and I fell in love. And the more anime I watched, the more appreciation I developed for it. The plot lines I saw unfolding in the shows I watched were complex, the characters vivid, and the artwork astonishing. And today, I prefer to watch anime over every other genre and I will never again refer to an anime as a cartoon, the way I unwittingly did when I was 14!
