The series focuses on a tournament called the Queen's Blade, which is held once every four years in order to determine the most beautiful and powerful queen. Fighters from all over the Continent travel to defeat Aldra, the current queen.
The main character that is focused on in the series is Leina; she is the heiress of the Vance Family, and is in the next in line for the throne. However, Leina doesn't want to take the throne, and keeps trying to run away from her home. She is accompanied by a thief named Ritsy.
While an interesting premise is set up in the first episode, the overall focus of the show actually isn't on the story. Many of the characters are large-breasted women who wear rather skimpy armor, and the series focuses heavily on gratuitous nudity. Honestly, if it wasn't for all the gratuitous nudity, I would probably actually enjoy Queen's Blade.
When I saw the first episode of Queen's Blade on Crackle, I ended up seeing the English dub. There were a couple of the characters in the dub that sounded rather screechy, and another character really didn't seem to have much emotion when delivering her lines. I was rather unimpressed by this English dub, so that also didn't help with my opinion of the series.
Queen's Blade is definitely aimed at a very particular segment of anime fandom, and it's a segment that I'm not part of. I believe that this series would be well-received by that particular segment, but not by much of anyone else. Since Queen's Blade is rated TV-MA, I can only truly recommend it to anime viewers who are 18 years of age and older.
