Object Along A Path In Flash CS3 - 2

  1. We will use the Pencil Tool to draw the Motion Guide. Set up the Pencil Tool with a black Stroke Color and no Fill Color. In the Tools Panel, set the Pencil Mode to Smooth.

  2. Draw your Motion Guide path on the stage with the Pencil Tool.

  3. With the Selection Tool, drag the dot to the beginning of the path. When you drag the dot you will see the Transformation Point which looks like a small white dot. This should snap to the beginning tip of the path line.

  4. We need to determine the last frame on the Timeline for our animation. Let's use Frame 60. Add a keyframe to Frame 60 on the my_dot_ani layer and on the Guide layer.

  5. While still on Frame 60 of the my_dot_ani layer, drag the dot to the end of the path. The Transformation Point should snap to the end of the path line.

  6. Right-click on any frame between 1 and 60 on the my_dot_ani layer. Choose Create Motion Tween from the pop-up menu.

  7. In the Properties Inspector, place a checkmark in the box next to Orient to Path, Sync and Snap.

  8. To test the animation, click Control, Test Movie.
