Kindle Paperwhite

A few years ago I would have said that to buy a kindle for a child was a waste of money and a bad idea. I have changed my mind after doing some personal research.

If you have a child who loves books and loves to read -- a kindle can be a really good investment.

From the technology aspect kids seem to really love the idea of holding something small in their hands that allow them access to many, many books.

Let me say this again -Kids really love Kindles.

From a grandparent, aunt, uncle or parent point of view it is very easy to gift a book. I originally thought that the process would be that I would need to buy a kindle gift card and give it to the child or teen.

Instead, I just subscribe to Kindle Daily Deals and watch every day to see the great deals. If there is one that I know will interest one of my grandchildren or nieces or nephews I can just buy it with one click and then using the gift option there is two choices or directions to follow. I can enter the email address of the child, teen or parent and then they are sent an email with a link to their book. There is also a place to personalize the message that goes with the gift. If perhaps I don’t know their email address and will need to look it up later, you can have the email come to your personal email address and then you can forward it to their email address.

You can also loan books from your own kindle library with a simple process on Amazon that is very easy to follow. While the books are loaned you cannot access them on your kindle, but then later they are returned.
Most libraries also loan out e-books and that is another low or no-cost option for your child to check out a book they’re interested in.

I own a Kindle Fire and also a Kindle Paperwhite. Kindle Fire is really nice for interactive kindle books, but I love the really lightweight of the Kindle Paperwhite.

My daughters each own a basic kindle and love them because they are small, and easy to read, and they love to carry their library with them.

Gifting a kindle book is so easy I find that I do it a lot. And of course my grand-kids love it!
