Hidden Doors, Secret Rooms Review

Jillian Braedon and her five-year-old daughter Valerie were running for their lives. After her car got stuck in a snowbank, severely injured and barely able to stagger through the snow, Jillian sent her daughter to find help, hoping Valerie could find a home nearby.

Famous musician John Mills was currently living in the upper desert region of northeastern Arizona, still reeling from the deaths of his wife and son in a helicopter accident five years ago, and still healing from his own injuries. Led by his barking dog, Bear, John found a young child on his porch covered with snow. After tending to the youngster, he eventually was able to find her mother, and brought her to his home to help the two heal.

Jillian eventually shared that the FBI was after her and would do anything they could to find her. Come to find out, they were trying to locate her for less than honorable reasons.

With John and Jillian’s lives on the line, John tried to do what he could to understand what was really going on in the midst of misdirection and less than honest information from Jillian and the Feds. John eventually brought in special help in the form of his friend Mel, who came over from England to assist John.

As the FBI increased their determination to grab Jillian and Valerie, John, Jillian and Mel came up with their own plan to go on the offensive in order to stop the assaults and save their lives.

Hidden Doors, Secret Rooms is the first novel written by Jamie Eubanks. This novel is not your usual story, as it shows what the mind can conjure up and how difficult it is to know the difference between reality and fiction. Right from the start the reader will know the mental, emotional, and physical struggles Jillian is dealing with as well as physical challenges John has.

How the two worked together to bring healing to their bodies and minds is a large part of the fascination of this story. Sometimes it’s difficult to tell what is real and what is not. The author is good at filling the reader in along the way. The best part is the surprise climatic scenes and the wonderful, satisfying ending.

This book is a page turner from the start and the taut suspense rarely lets up. It’s a fascinating story that will keep you reading far into the night. We are looking forward to this new author’s next novel.

We purchased this novel and highly recommend it if you truly want a unique mystery. If you want to purchase your own copy, it is available at Amazon.com.
