Billionaire Blend Review

Clare Cosi and her baristas are spooked by the daily visit from the so-called Quiz Master who asks detailed questions about various types of coffee drinks they serve and who appears to be trying to stump the team. Who is he, and why is he asking so many questions?

Clare believes he is trying to snatch one of her well-trained baristas for his own coffee shop and she is not going to let that happen. As she keeps a close watch on the interloper, a car bomb goes off and causes massive damage to the Village Blend. Come to find out, it’s the car of the mysterious visitor.

Clare; her former husband and current co-owner, Matt; and Clare’s current love, Michael; along with the New York City police bomb squad, are all trying to find out who would want to kill the billionaire (aka the Quiz Master) and ruin Claire’s business. As she becomes more involved with the mysterious billionaire, Michael struggles with a demanding boss in his current assignment in Washington, D.C. and Clare's apparent attraction to the billionaire.

Clare is shocked to find what a cutthroat business coffee has become, and her desire to create the best blend to please her new friend has Michael seeing red. There is never a dull moment as Clare jets around the world with her new friend, as her family and friends grow increasingly concerned for her welfare.

The greater shock is the mastermind behind all the troubles, and the reason why the death and destruction occurred in the first place. When the smoke clears, the participants in the quest to find out the truth are left with a surprising reveal.

The Billionaire Blend by Cleo Coyle is a fast-paced, detailed look at the competitive specialized coffee business. The multi-layered plot keeps the action moving at top speed. All of the main characters are present including the venerable Madame Dreyfus Allegro Dubois, aka Matt’s mother, a favorite.

This is one of the most intriguing stories yet in the long series and will have readers quickly turning pages to see what happens next. The author makes good use of the city of New York as a backdrop, especially its streets and skyline, to enhance the feeling of danger and to highlight the familiar surroundings.

There is plenty of action to keep the most avid fan fulfilled and looking forward to the next installment of this fabulous coffeehouse series. As always, the author includes numerous recipes mentioned in the story for readers to try out in their own kitchen.

This review is based on a complimentary arc copy of Billionaire Blend provided by the author for our review. If you are interested in any of the books in A Coffeehouse Mystery series, they are available at Amazon.com.
