Luncheon is History

I participated in the Salado Republican Women’s annual money raising event of decorated tables on March 27, 2014. Each person who agreed to decorate a table and sell tickets for this event ended up to 25 tables. I agreed to do another table and the theme was a “Welcome to Mill Creek Country Club” decorated in golf accessories. I also told my guest that they should wear their golf clothes as we are golfers who are welcoming the updated golf course.

I had agreed to do this early this year not realizing that I would came down with the Shingles in February. I still felt I should be over it my March 27th but still had lingering affects of this dreaded illness. One of my guest Gail agreed to help me load up and decorate my table so this was a big help. I was able to organize plenty of things to decorate with but when we had the centerpiece in place we could see we had to keep it simple.

In the center was a torso borrowed from the Pro Shop dressed in one of the red women’s pull over wind shirt. For extras we added golf items such as score cards, balls on a tee and golf course flyers made by the new Pro L. J. Lewis. These were handed out to other guest at the event to promote the golf course.

My overall plan was to use a large brown table cloth to feature all the dirt that was moved in preparation for the updates of the golf course. The next was a smaller round cloth in ivory to show improve280ments. The beige place matt’s represented the sand traps and used just a dinner plate and silverware. An enlarged picture of the upgraded par three golf hole plus small enlarged pictures of the golf course scattered around the table.

My guests were three friends I have played golf with, J. L. Lewis the golf Pro and one of the owners Vicki Helm and was so glad they both came. The event was one of the largest crowds they have had as they estimated 170 people came to this event. It was a good way to promote the new upgraded golf course. I was able to talk to several guest about the course and handed out brocure before the luncheon started. I took the rest of the brochures to the Salado Tourist Welcome Center

There was a guest speaker and the announcement for raffle items and buyers of the auction items. Lewis had to leave as he had a golf lesson and Vicki also as she was on her noon break as she run the office for their business the Lone Star Grading Company. I really appreciated their taking the time to be my guest. My golfing friends helped take down the table and pack it into my storage container plus they carried it to my car. I am so blessed with friends like this. Following through with this luncheon was worth the effort as many people saw the table and will remember the Mill Creek Country Club.
