Baking soda, a naturally occurring substance, is not harmful to people or the environment. This substance is the ideal low-cost, effective cleaner for many jobs around the house.

ODOR REMOVAL

Baking soda absorbs odors like a charm. Place an open container of baking soda in the refrigerator and nasty odors magically disappear. Open boxes placed throughout an attic will stop that old musty smell from creeping in.

The nasty, stale smell of cigarette smoke is eliminated when baking soda is sprinkled in ashtrays.

Sweaty foot odor is absorbed when baking soda is sprinkled in boots, shoes, and socks. No more stinky feet when shoes are taken off at the end of the day.

The smell of vomit is enough to make a person sick to their stomach. This offensive odor is removed from your carpet when you sprinkle baking soda on the offending area. Laundry detergent works better when ½ cup baking soda is added. Since baking soda is also a natural bleach, your whites will be whiter and your colors brighter.

To make your whites really white add 1 cup each of baking soda, lemon juice and vinegar (each of which is a natural bleach) to your laundry detergent. Wash clothes, then dry with solar power by hanging them in the sunshine.

Baking soda sprinkled in the lint catcher of your dryer spreads a fresh scent through your house while the dryer is being used.

ANIMALS

Control litter box odor by sprinkling baking soda in the bottom of the litter pan before adding the litter. It also helps to sprinkle some on top of the litter.

Keep your pet dog or cat smelling fresh by sprinkling baking soda on them and brushing it through their fur. The smell of your wet dog is neutralized by brushing him with baking soda.

Bathing your animal with baking soda and water will keep their skin and fur smooth and soft.
