Using the Color Indigo in Healing

Indigo has a power and depth that goes beyond lighter shades of blue. It is the color of the night sky lit with stars and it stimulates our psychic senses.

Indigo is the shade that corresponds to the third eye, which has an unfathomable depth to it. It is a shade much loved by stained glass artists to evoke the Divine in their church windows. The light shining through this darkest shade of blue is designed to awaken a feeling of reverence and wonder at the majesty and vastness of God.

Deepest blue and gold were used together in Ancient Egypt to connect those in positions of spiritual authority to the Gods. The Egyptians used lapis lazuli extensively and those who connect to those times are often drawn to lapis now. With its flecks of golden pyrite gazing upon a good quality piece of lapis is like looking at the starry heavens.

If you wish to develop your psychic awareness then indigo is the color to work with. As well as lapis you can use the cheaper stone sodalite which is readily available. Covellite and deep blue azurite are also excellent third eye stones.

Spend time outside on a cloudless night to admire the stars. This is awakening for the third eye and always fills me with a sense of wonder at the immensity of the Universe. Indigo also reminds me of the Ocean depths which are mysterious and mostly unexplored.

Dark blue glass bottles are not too difficult to find. In the UK a brand of spring water uses this fantastic color for their bottles. This makes deep blue solarised water very easy to make. Fill a dark blue bottle with spring water and allow the rays of the Sun to fall on it over a couple of hours. You can then drink it, or keep it cool and drink up within the next few days. It doesn’t keep well unless you make it into a color essence using the same principles as gem or flower essence making.

Deep blue carries a sense of unknown mysteries. To be prepared to accept that not everything is measurable and explainable is necessary for your spiritual development. This is the nature of indigo, to encourage you to embrace the unknowable. There is far more to this Universe than that which can be measured, explained and classified.
