Cold Cereal Breakfast Recipe

In my house, breakfast is the most eaten meal of the day. It doesn't matter what time of day either, because we're always up for a great bowl of cold cereal. We, however, take it to the next level. Here's what we do.

We never limit ourselves to just one type of cereal. We have a minimum of two, but usually three or four and all with personalized embellishments. Granola, Joe's O's, Shredded Wheat, Corn Flakes, etc. can all make there way into our bowls in one sitting or another. It's a pleasure to our palates, a boost to our health and a spectacle our friends stand back in awe of as they witness the building of our breakfast masterpieces.

Here's how it looks:

I frequent stores like Trader's, Target, Von's, Fred Meyer's, our local farmer's markets and a few others to get what I need.
From Trader's I get our cereals, dried fruits and nuts. We like the flavor and the prices.
My Target store knows me by name and for a few items in particular. When they see me now, they point to me and say "Soy milk, right?" and I smile and nod.
Von's doesn't know me like that, but I don't mind because I tend to make my b-line to their organic bananas (they tend to always have the ripe ones when we need them).
Fred Meyer's has great prices too and when I don't want to travel the world to get our breakfast makings I pop in.
Our farmer's market gives us all the fresh produce and specialty items we need to make our breakfast unique.

All that being said, I'll show you how we assemble our 'anytime' meal, breakfast. And remember... eyeball it. Don't measure! Feel it instead.

Flavor and texture are key in this scenario. so we start with the shredded wheat on the bottom of the bowl. It holds its shape and acts as a great platform for the other flavors that will layer on top. Next we'll go with the slightly sweet Joe's O's. We like them because they taste just like the all too familiar cheerios and we like the all natural ingredients way better. After the O's we pour on the Hemp or Flaxseed Omega 3 granola, some raw almonds, dried cranberries and or raisins or fresh dates if they're in season. We top all of this off with some ice cold Very Vanilla Silk (soy milk) and Bon Apetit!

You get all of your proteins, an amazing source of vitamins and minerals, your essential fatty acids, all packed in this little or big bowl you're calling breakfast; and... it tastes great. Talk about flavor and texture!!!

Trust me... once you try this cereal combo, you'll never want to go back, unless you just have a taste for the ordinary one day.

Try this, or another combination of your making, and let me know how it turns out for you.

As always, it's been my pleasure helping to make your breakfast a memorable experience. Until next time...
