- With the Move tool, select the Row of Diamonds group layer in the Layers panel. Click Edit - Duplicate to create another row. Drag the row downward until the top of the diamonds in this row touch the bottom of the diamonds of the row above (see screenshot).
- Click Edit - Duplicate to start the Power Duplicate feature. Repeat clicking Edit - Duplicate, to duplicate rows of diamonds until you have covered the entire canvas.
- Select the bottom seven rows of diamonds and drag them downward 8 pixels, until the bottom row touches the bottom of the canvas (see screenshot).
- Select the row of diamonds that is directly above the empty area (seventh row from the top) and drag the handle downward to extend the height 8 pixels.
- In the Transform panel, this row should now be 64 px high (see screenshot).
- Select all of the layers in the Layers panel and group the layers. Name this new group Diamond Pattern Background (see screenshot).
You will notice that the bottom row of diamonds does not extend all the way to the bottom of the canvas (see screenshot). We need to make this rows 8 pixels taller to compensate. If we do, the top and bottom of the border will be different. So we will leave this row as is and we will enlarge one of the middle rows, so that the border will appear to be even.
We will move the bottom seven rows of diamonds downward 8 pixels, to touch the edge of the canvas.
Now the empty 8 pixels area is at the middle of the canvas (see screenshot). There are seven rows above and seven rows below the empty space.
