I decided to review this book for a number of reasons. One, it’s been extremely helpful to me in getting ready to launch my own line of natural body and hair care products. Two, I believe that many people are turning now towards finding ways to achieve sustainability and wealth while still respecting themselves and the Earth and trying to simply “be happy”. Three, I believe it’s invaluable to have a guide in the realm of beginning a business and one that has a spiritually holistic approach to it’s instruction is a wonderful blessing.

I happened upon this book while looking for guidance in making my new venture as successful as possible and I am very pleased that it crossed my path. Sandy Maine, the author of Creating an Herbal Body Care Business is the owner of a very successful and beautifully balanced body care business, Sun Feather Natural Soap Company. Through telling her own story and sharing her gained knowledge, she guides you towards the choices and decisions that will help spell success for you.

One of the particularly inspiring chapters of this book recounts the stories of other successful body care businesses, from a massage school to an herbal retreat center. I initially thought I wouldn’t see much value in this chapter, as I was really focused on getting concrete information and direction. I was, however, very wrong. Listening to these business owners’ stories was very empowering. Sandy took the time to create a list of superb and in-depth questions to ask these people and their answers not only taught me, they inspired me as well. It was very powerful to see how people overcame the same obstacles I now face and to simply know that people just like me who started out just like me are happy and successful. It definitely has given me confidence to persevere in my own endeavor!

Another very key aspect of this book is the practical “how-to” of beginning a business, starting from deciding upon a winning idea to the nuts and bolts of a stellar business plan. I also found the chapter covering advertising and marketing ideas particularly helpful.

The book as a whole was a wonderful boost to my self-confidence and belief that I can have a unique successful business even in today’s market where there are already many herbal body and skin care businesses. My career coach told me once not to be discouraged by the many companies in existence already; she said that “my people” are out there waiting for “my products and services”. Sandy, through Creating an Herbal Body Care Business, helped me to see even more clearly that I do have and something of value to offer and that “my people” are indeed out there waiting.

Furthermore, her book is helping me take that knowledge and manifest it into a viable, healthy business.
