We Won the Lottery Review

What would you do if you won the lottery? Take a trip around the world? Buy your parents a house? Start a business for charity? How about all of the above? In We Won the Lottery - Real Life Winner Stories by Danny Buckland, winners share how they did all that and more with their winnings from the UK's National Lottery.

You often hear stories of lottery winners gone bad, but this book is a collection of positive stories of winners gone good. What struck me about all of them is their great attitude towards the money. Many of them still held a job or started businesses. The winners are from several areas in the UK from working class background. Most of them were regular lottery players—some of whom played for years before they hit it big.

There's the struggling young university student who wins over 3 million pounds at age 21. She does all the things you'd expect a young woman to do with the money—has fun and helps her family including boob jobs for her sisters! Then there's a group of winners who work together in a beauty salon in Scotland. After their win, they still worked but they had security like they never knew before. A bus driver from Belfast, Ireland, who grew up during the 'troubles' was one of the first big winners with a win of over 10 million pounds. He's gone on cruises, bought beautiful homes and cars and even met President Bill Clinton. He's also started several businesses, at least one to help charities in Belfast. These winners and more share a slice of their lives from before and after their lottery wins.

It seems the media likes to focus on the negative. That's why this book is such a refreshing look at lottery winners. I think this is a fun read that's an inspiration to lottery players and sweepstakers. Enjoy and good luck!
