The Sweepstakes Family

Are you the only sweepstaker in the house? Does your family think you're a bit odd? It's okay—there's still time to get them involved yet, especially after the excitement of a win that benefits your family. Here are some tips to get all members of your household interested in contests and sweepstakes.

Spouse/Significant Other

You and your significant other can find sweeps together when you're out but you can also pool your resources and keep track of any possibilities from work or play, hobbies, etc. It doesn't matter if you keep it informal or both of you keep a sweeptaking journal.

Kids and Teens

Your young kids and teens are bombarded with advertisements every day. They're connected digitally more than any other generation. They can keep their eyes open for sweepstakes at their most visited websites and shops. Texting is a popular pastime of teens and text sweeps are very popular.

If you enter essay or other skill contests, you might already by their inspiration for entering contests that will challenge them and show off skills they have such as art, crafts, science fairs and more. Also, get your kids to address 3 x 5 cards, envelopes and postcards for mail-in entries. Get them involved in "collect" type games such as My Coke Rewards, UPC codes from cereal boxes, etc.

Looking for Sweeps as a Family

Turn sweeps hunting into a game itself. Have the kids check the packaging and displays in the grocery store when you go shopping. They may also notice local sweeps when their out around town.

If you're all on social networking sites, then this makes it easier to gather sweeps together in a common area. For instance, on Pinterest, each member of the family can create a board to pin online sweeps they find that they think each of you would be interested in. That way you can all log in and check the boards at your convenience.

Pretty soon, you'll have the kids and spouse trained to spot even the opportunities to win that you've missed. Have fun and good luck!
