What varieties does Mrs. Claus have in her greenhouse you ask? Located right between the reindeer stables and the main house, for easy access, her greenhouse has a variety of roses with Yuletide names. This insures she’s never at a loss for stunning holiday table arrangements.
“Northern Lights” is one of the North Pole favorites and is truly a beautiful rose. It flowers repeatedly and has a very heavy fragrance. The center of the rose is a lemon drop yellow with the outer petals a cotton candy pink. There’s also “Hallelujah.” Aside from the festive Christmas name this rose has a stunning dark red color. The white on the reverse of the petals is truly unique. This is an excellent rose for warm dry climates. Thank goodness Mrs. Claus has such a well insulated greenhouse for her use.
“Silent Night” is always a classic as far as names are concerned. The rose petals are a soft yellow and appear to be dipped in a delicate pink. Mrs. Claus enjoys lingering over this rose as Christmas creeps closer, with the holiday evenings chaotic and the reindeer becoming restless. If you’re going for a famous holiday actor there’s “Bing Crosby.” This hybrid tea is an eye catching deep orange that ranges to red. This isn’t a rose to be resisted if you can’t help but watch “White Christmas” every holiday season!
“Evening Star” is a white floribunda. It’s best for cooler dry climates as it can be prone to black spot. The blooms however are lovely white with just a hint of a sunshine yellow undertone. Once autumn comes and the blooms take a on a light green hue it’s truly spectacular. It’s definitely something you can look forward to before the weather chills. Last but not least Mrs. Claus just couldn’t resist adding “Hot Chocolate.” These brick red flowers bloom often throughout the summer. You shouldn’t expect an actual brown tone however, it’s closer to a red than a cocoa shade.
These holiday themed roses are definitely something to consider as a gift for the hard to buy rose gardener on your list. Perhaps they could even be included on your gift list for Santa this year. However, if you’ve been a bit naughty and need to improve your standing on the list, you could always leave one of these roses beside the milk and cookies. Mrs. Claus always has extra room in her greenhouse and we all know who’s really in charge at the North Pole anyway!
