Cancelled Vows Review

Police Chief David O’Callaghan and Chelsea Adams’ wedding is come up soon when David finds out he is already married. He and a former fling didn’t realize their fun trip to Las Vegas years ago included marriage vows in the packet.

Mac Faraday, David and Mac’s dog, Gnarly, head to New York City to see if Yvonne will sign papers to void her and David’s marriage. They have five days to get everything straightened out.

While David was talking to Yvonne, Mac and Gnarly found a body behind a wall in the secretaries’ office; the body of Audra Walker, a journalist, who disappeared two years ago. Lieutenant Wayne Hopkins was the homicide detective who worked on Audra’s case at that time.

Jealousy, murder, cold cases and bad cops create a dangerous investigation that could cause the life of Mac and David. Will they get out of New York alive or will David and Chelsea’s wedding turn into a funeral?

Cancelled Vows by Lauren Carr, is the sixteenth entry in the popular Mac Faraday Mystery series which started with It’s Murder, My Son. Carr has continued with further novels connected to the Mac Faraday Mysteries including the Joshua Thornton Mysteries, Lovers in Crime Mysteries and the Thorny Rose Mysteries.

What is the most fun is that the novels connect with one another even if sometimes the thread is thin. Readers will enjoy revisiting their favorite characters while the stories are always fresh and exciting.

The fast-pace story line, change of location, and abundance of new characters will keep pages turning as the author continues the bring new stories to the long-running, yet highly entertaining, series.

My last comment regarding this book is that it has, quite possibly, the best ending I’ve ever read.
