Life is sometimes such a blur. With the endless To-Do Lists and constant noise of society is it any surprise that we have such a hard time relaxing?

I'm not a proponent of legalism, but I think we should slow down to examine this issue of Sabbath. We know God took a day off after creating. We know the Sabbath was an Old Testament law. We know Jesus rested, prayed, spent time alone. We know all of this yet do we slow down, even for an evening?

Satan is having a grand time keeping us so busy that we lose contact with our spouses, our children, our parents, siblings, other family members, and our friends. He's perpetuating lies:

"You'll be a good wife if you do this thing over here"

"You'll be a good parent if your child is involved in this"

It is hard to get everything right, all of the time. I understand, believe me, I can sympathize. What makes things fall into perfect order is time spent with Jesus. And yes, sometimes it is very hard to make time, even for Jesus, as sad as that is.

Time with Jesus is important, though. It is THE most important thing we can do for ourselves and everyone around us. So start small. Stop in the shower, get on your knees and pray for a couple minutes. Set your alarm ten minutes early and kneel down on your living room floor. I pray at my couch, at my dining room table, at the side of my bed, at my son's bed, and outside on my deck. The point is to pray.

Communication is key to intimate relationships and if you're not communicating with God, the relationship is strained. The first and most important step to connecting with God is to initiate communication.

From there, through circumstances, situations, Bible reading, and time with other Believers, He'll lead you to the next step. It might be a commitment to reading the Word daily, doing devotions alone or with your family, or something entirely different. That's the beauty of God. He made each of us different with unique gifts and He can lead each and every one of us to joy in Him.
