Tom Cruise is certainly an American idol of huge proportions. His movies have enormous popularity in the U.S. So why not show his patriotism by bringing notoriety to a landmark that is American, not French?
My thoughts are: France has not been supportive of the U.S. during the Iraqi war, the value of the U.S. dollar is low in Europe at this time, and so Paris has the Louvre, New York has the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Let’s not forget that the Empire State Building was good enough for Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in "Sleepless in Seattle." Attention Hollywood directors, "Why not a sequel to 'Sleepless' with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes?"
All kidding aside, I do wish the Hollywood couple well. I would however warn Katie that she wasn’t Tom’s first, second, or third choice? Does she really want to be known only as Mrs. Cruise? It wasn’t good enough for Nicole. A toast to the Hollywood couple!
A great place to visit in NY is the Museum of TV and Radio. I was there a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed myself listening to the radio show, "The Shadow" that I remember from my childhood. This museum is "dedicated to audiovisual artifacts with a collection of over 50,000 TV and radio shows."
Since movies are an art form, I recommend Tom Cruise in one of my favorite movies based on the TV series, "Mission Impossible." Available here from Amazon.com.
