In addition to helping consumers decide where to shop, BuyBlue.org has sought to arm activist and political groups with information they can use to further their causes. Raven Brooks, President and Chair of BuyBlue.org, said that for the 2005 California Special Election they “researched each of the propositions and determine which companies, groups and individuals were contributing money in support of either side. This information was picked up by a lot of Democratic groups campaigning against the measures and searching for the terms in Google generally brought us back in the top 5 results and in some cases as number one. By giving people information about the interests supporting a given measure we feel that we've helped provide people with a tool they can use to achieve their political goals. Accurate and easy to digest information is a very powerful tool.”

In the future BuyBlue.org plans to expand the kind of information they provide. In addition to the 2006 election cycle political donations, they plan to add information about lobbying practices of companies. Also watch for BuyBlue.org to expand it use of local chapter to research and rate local businesses, state elections and ballot initiatives. To expand their participation in traditional grassroots type activities, and outreach to other democratic and progressive organizations. Do not spend another dollar until you have had the change to check out BuyBlue.org and make sure that dollar will not end up helping the Republicans.
