Its Okay to be Different by Todd Parr is a celebration of diversity. It is a picture book for children. It validates a childs right to be different. Many children and adults for that matter, worry about not being like others. This book explains to both groups, we are individuals, its okay to be different.

The text is simple. Todd Parr tells the reader Its okay to be adopted. He also tells that Its okay to be a different color. With these and many other Its okay . . . , he reassures children.

The illustrations are simple as the text. They appear to have been drawn by children. The colors are vivid. All of the pictures, are outlined in black, like pictures in children coloring books.

Each character wears a smile. They are happy although they are different. Children will smile and enjoy their individuality, too.

Todd Parr is a master in connecting to small children. He has written scores of picture books. His works are praised by parents over the world. Share this picture book with the children in your life.

The lessons in this book are for everyone. Do you know someone heading to the plastic surgeon for a nose job? They need to read the page, Its okay to have a different nose.

Actually, this picture book is for all of us. We all have insecurities. I think this is a book for the home library to be read by children, tweens, teens and adults.
