How many of you have had the experience that we did one year-my son, at the age of three, decided that he really needed to have an outlet for his creative side. This resulted in him using markers to color on our light-colored, pickled wood, kitchen cabinets. At that time, we were so very happy for water-based, washable markers! Then, Crayola, a few years later, came up with Color Wonder. My youngest has truly enjoyed them until the last year or so (since she was about six to seven years old).

If you have not seen or used this product, it is one that I recommend if your younger child likes to use markers. This was a great product for us (my older two liked them due to the novelty) since all three of my children seem to have an aversion to using crayons for anything. I would supply them with all the scratch paper, coloring books and other medium for their markers. Of course, it also meant keeping a close eye on them because all children will want to experiment.

With the Color Wonder markers, I have found they do just what they say. We never had a mark on anything other than the paper. I even encouraged them, at first, to try the markers on different surfaces. We tried wallpaper, clothing, other paper and floors. Yes, there was a clear, wet streak for a short amount of time, but once the mark dried, there was nothing to be seen. The markers only work on the special paper. Another thing that is so nice about Color Wonder is that you can purchase it to grow, to a degree, with your child. The coloring books start at a pretty elementary level, progress to characters the children enjoy such as Crayola Color Wonder Coloring Pad Assortment-Dora/Blues Room, or topics that are interesting to them. There are tablets that allow them to draw their own pictures. We have even used the black paper that has the colors under it like the one in Crayola Mini Color Wonder & Color Explosion Duo. It reminded me of when I was a kid and we took crayons, made designs on paper and then covered over the designs with black crayon. Then you could use a paper clip, or similar tool, and scratch off the black crayon to create really fun patterns.
