It was important to gather my family close around me as a buffet against the world and to help them feel safe no matter where we lived. To do this we made sure we ate our family meals together and also spent lots of time crafting and creating. Since we didn’t always have the luxury of just running out to the store we did lots of crafts using whatever was available. I think this helps children think more creatively as they learn to figure out what they want to create and how they can use what is on hand.
My family is the most important aspect of my life, but that doesn’t mean I buy expensive gifts for my grandchildren. I want them to know they are important by the time I spend with them – and the best time spent can be time spent crafting. We have lots of fun creating and inventing and you can to. I hope you will read along with my weekly articles and get some ideas of how to spend some fun and meaningful time with your kids and grand-kids, nieces and nephews, and all the little people that you know.
