BellaOnline's Irish Shop

“Going down to the shops” is as Irish as a cup of tea. In the old days, people shopped nearly every day, not because there was any money, but to get the news, the dinner, maybe a few sweets, and a twist of tea. Here’s hoping that BellaOnline’s Irish Shop can supply a little bit of the same spirit of “going down to the shops,” a bit of news, a bit of this and a bit of that, and maybe something sweet.

Ireland is an ancient land with an emerging economy. Where once it was rare to find a book or film about Ireland---and it was so exciting when we did---now Ireland’s artists, designers, authors, film-makers, musicians, and craftspeople are finally able to give full expression to their gifts. These modern Irish artists interpret the traditional with nothing lost in the translation. Now there is a more variety and a better selection than ever before.

Irish Books

It’s a rare time when the Irish don’t have something to say… It’s when those opinions, arguments, and stories get written down that things really get interesting.

Irish Language

The Irish language is beautiful to listen to and beautiful to speak. Irish speakers are prized in this society that is so oriented toward remaining connected with its past. Transparent Language programs are a simple, effective way to learn new languages, and their Irish program is a good place to start learning the Gaelic.

Jewelry & Clothing

Ireland’s jewelry and metalwork designs have been coveted since before the Viking invasion. Her textiles---woolens, tweeds, linens---all are without equal.

Claddagh Rings
Aran Sweaters Kill the Chill!

Irish goods are cherished in the hearts and homes of the many millions of people the world over who claim Irish ancestry…and a healthy percentage of those who don’t. There’s a good reason for this. The quality of Irish products runs to the high end. Quality endures. If those priceless bits of family history that are told over and again as the cabinet contents are examined and the generations introduced to the treasures “Made in Ireland,” the symbols of those memories must be worthy. That is where the value of the artifact lies, not in the bits of clay, glass, or linen…but in the hearts and memories of those who love them.
