Moody Bluegrass – A Nashville Tribute to the Moody Blues

Moody Bluegrass – A Nashville Tribute to the Moody Blues There is no greater honor to an artist then to have other top muscians pay tribute to their music. It's hard to imagine the Moody Blues music with a bluegrass arrangements but Nashville brought together the top bluegrass talents of Alison Krauss and Union Station, Alison Brown, John Cowan, Sam Bush, Tim O'Brien, Stuart Duncan and a host of other top bluegrass artists to produce the surprisingly brilliant Moody Bluegrass.

This CD quickly became one of my most frequently played CDs. While I won't say it's better than the original Moody Blues, it does bring forth the depth and richness of the original compositions. The Moody Blues music is known for its complexity and intricacies which was perfect for a bluegrass intrepretation. Highlighs include Land of Make Believe, Wildest Dreams and Its Up to You. John Cowan's tenor vocals is The Voice and are perfect is his interpretation of Nights in White Satin. With gospel overtones, John's voice is clear and perfectly pitched for the final cut Never Comes the Day.

The historic Ryman Auditorium hosted a live performance of this tribute. The live performance brought together the original artists who played on the CD. The Moody Blues also appeared for this live performance which will be released as a DVD.

Take a step to the other side of life and add this wonderful tribute to your music collection.
