While we love looking fabulous all year there is nothing better than the holiday’s. The parties, the sales, the hot new buys and the great new holiday styles make us sit on the edge of our seats in anticipation of being the talk of the night at our next holiday dinner party.
This time of year we want to stand out and for that reason we look for clothes with the most creative designs, metallic colors and bold jewelry but we always look for it on our budget after all why go broke if we don’t have to?
There are just a few fashion don’ts to keep you amazingly fabulous.
• Avoid being overly adorned – Jewelry should add to your outfit not distract from it.
• Try to avoid dresses with bows on your backside. Your rear end is not a gift.
• There is a such thing as a dress or blouse with too much drape. If you sleeves are past your hip that might be too much.
• Be careful when it comes to texture on a dress or gown. You don’t want to create lumps and bumps in areas that should appear smooth and shapely.
You can create amazing style without spending a fortune by simply going after separates to create the perfect outfit one item at a time. If you are a budget, like me, then I don’t have to tell you about TJMaxx, Marshall’s or NY & Co. these companies offer amazing styles that stay within reach for everyone. If that is still too mainstream for you then don’t forget about your local vintage and second hand shops, they always have unique finds.
For those with a little more flexibility in their finances I would advise checking out sites like Ployvore, Net-a-porter.com or go local and try Macy’s or Nordstrom’s. They all offer style in the form of stunning luxury and lets be for clear if money is not object these are just a few of the places you might want to take a look at.
When you have some time sit down, maybe a few weeks before your event, and think about your likes and dislikes. Will you be rocking a dress or slacks, pants suit or jumpsuit, formal gown or LBD, statement jewelry or quiet yet noticeable pieces? Once you decide on a look that fits you and your style you will be well on your way to stealing the show at your holiday gathering.
