Book Review on Dorpsplein by Ineke Kuiperij

This lovely tatting book contains patterns which will enable you to make your very own tatted lace village. There are patterns for four different styles of houses, a tatted church complete with bell, and several very pretty three dimensional trees which are made from a number of sections layered together.

This softback book contains 20 pages and all of the patterns are illustrated in black and white and full colour. Some of the photos are a little fuzzy but the diagrams are clear enough.

The book is in Dutch and an English translation of the Dutch tatting terms is included; however the book will not suit a beginner but is for the tatter who has some experience. The tatting in itself is not particularly complex but you will need to know how to stiffen the lace and how to join the different sections together to complete the models. The thread given for working the patterns is DMC 80 crochet cotton which is quite fine but works well for tatting. DMC Special Dentelles is the same weight.

Ineke Kuiperij has written several other books including the wonderful Chess Set which some of you will have seen. Her books are not available through the tatting book stockists, so if you would like more information about them please complete the Submit a Comment box stating that you would like more information about Ineke Kuiperij's books and I will forward your request to my contact.
