To Wick or Not to Wick

To Wick or not to Wick

With the popularity & improvement of candle fragrances today and the
use of candle/coffee warmers many people have opted for wickless
candles.
This has increased the demand for wickless container candles.
As a candlemaker it is hard to ignore this trend. Whether you make
candles for your own personal use or commercially, each one of us must
ask, " To Wick or not to Wick?"

I truly feel a wicked candle lets you enjoy all the qualities of this
newfound trend plus the added ambiance of the candlelight flame. For me
there is no replacement for a wicked candle. As I write this, I must
state
that there is a place for wickless candles. Working without a wick has
allowed me to concentrate on combining a quality porous wax with a
quality
fragrance for maximum scent throw.

Todays waxes and additives allow the candlemaker to design a candle
that
will burn cleanly and possess a lasting, pleasant scent. Fragrance and
essential oils are now available in many scents and concentrated enough
to
provide us with the results we all desire.

One can argue that a wickless candle is safer without an open flame.
But,
due to a larger wax pool the danger of accidental burn from spilled wax
can be greater. The same precautions must be taken with all candles.
Keep
away from children and avoid tipping your candles over. Always practice
safety and never leave your candles unattended.

The choice is yours and I think that we all benefit from adding
another
candlemaking option.

“To Wick or Not to Wick?” Is that really a question
