About the BellaOnline Candlemaking Editor

Hello Everyone – I am the Candle Making Editor for BellaOnline and I am very excited to be working with them and all of you Candle Makers out there!

I am a mother of two grown children. One is a fantastic artist in South Carolina and one is lucky enough to be a stay at home mom that takes care of my two beautiful grand babies. I live in Madison, WI, with my boyfriend, who is an artist in the field of taxidermy. It gets interesting around here sometimes because you just never know who will be knocking on your door requesting what. Nevertheless, he has his workshop and I have mine so it works out pretty good. We also have a sweet chocolate lab, and a chubby old gray cat that loves to help me write.

After working at my full time job, I volunteer at a wildlife rehabilitation center one day a week, which I love. I also love reading, writing, cooking, and of course, candle and soap making. The last two hobbies coexist quite nicely, but my focus for this site will be on candle making.

I started making candles in my kitchen in early 2000. I know this because I found one of my old candle-making notebooks that I had meticulously dated, made notes, documented my formulas and temperatures, and used a lot of exclamation points and sad or happy faces to emphasize how nice or bad some of those early projects came out. Since those days, my note taking and techniques have improved and I have many tried-and-true candle projects. My goal is to share with you my favorite projects, along with helpful tips and tricks that will make your candle making experience enjoyable and safe. Whether you want to make candles for yourself, friends, family, or even to sell, I have some ideas that I hope you will find useful.

I continue to learn and try new things and look forward to sharing with you. If anyone out there has any questions, or would like to see an article on a particular subject, please let me know and I will get something out to you as soon as I can.
