The Twilight Wish Foundation

Cass Forkin, Founder and Executive Director of the Twilight Wish Foundation believes in lovingly fulfilling the Life-long wishes of seniors living in poverty. Founded in 2003 in Buck’s County Pennsylvania, the mission of the organization is to “bring smiles to seniors who have brought smiles to others.”

From fulfilling life-long ambitions to rare quality time to enjoy some “creature comforts” many of us might take for granted, the Twilight Wish Foundation can make just about any wish a reality.

Forkin loves to share wishes which recently have come true as a result of the Foundation. “A gentleman had a diner wish to pay for his wife’s meal on her 85th Birthday. The check came to $80 and being able to pay it gave him back his dignity,” she noted. Sometimes a wish can be as romantic as desiring to dance with a “nice’ gentleman. That wish will come true for 80 year old, Ada when she will be whisked to The Winter Ball this week at The University of Pennsylvania.

A diner in Dublin, Pennsylvania was where Forkin experienced her brainstorm. In the midst of dinner at the Dublin Diner, she noticed two elderly women counting out change to pay for a low-priced lunch. She did not hesitate to pay the bill anonymously after she realized how a fixed-income can create a struggle even to obtain the basics. Several short months later, she founded the organization to provide a vehicle for many others to follow in her footsteps. Although many seniors may feel forgotten, the Twilight Wish Foundation and the caring volunteers help them realize how much they are loved.

With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, Forkin suggests delivering roses to residents of nursing homes for those inclined to jump into the spirit of giving. Loving gestures can be so deeply appreciated by others in need. Most of the candidates for the program are generally those seniors over age 68 whose incomes represent 200% of the poverty level and have assets of $100,000 or less. In addition, they must have a documented history of having contributed to the welfare of others.

The Twilight Wish Foundation graciously accepts wishes from individuals who meet the criteria, and also accepts referrals from loving friends or relatives who have a candidate recipient in mind.

Moving forward, Forkin plans to expand by establishing local chapters nationally. “Every single State in the country has called us about starting a Chapter,” she said.
