Well, we managed to survive the Easter craft meeting for my Brownie troop by, unfortunately, having to postpone it. We will have it this week, so I will share with you the ideas we will be doing. They are not hard, There are 20 girls in my Brownie troop and these ideas require a bit of finger dexterity. It will be interesting watching how they, and we, the adults, manage to do these.

One of the crafts will be donated to our local Meals on Wheels. It is my belief as a leader that we need to teach the girls the value of community service and this is one way we are able to do that. The challenge was finding something cute that could fit into a brown bag lunch. I found this craft at MakingFriends.com. It satisfied many of the “requirements” I was looking for: simple, small and cute! I also get to use something new for me-wireless chenille. I think these Easter chicks will be a big hit with those receiving the meals.

The other craft we will be doing is making dish towel bunnies. The most difficult things about making this will be tying the knots, and finding 20 dish towels and 40 matching dishcloths. My older daughter had made several of these a few years ago as gifts and they were a big hit. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did. The directions at this site are very clear and include pictures to help you make this craft successfully. It is not difficult, but if you are like me, I have trouble following written instructions for origami and pictures make things much clearer for me.

In the past, we have also made the traditional Easter eggs with Styrofoam eggs and tissue paper. If you haven’t made these before, they are very easy and can be very cute. You may use any size egg. Have your crafter first tear small bits of tissue paper in any colors they choose. Then coat the egg, in small sections, with glue or decoupage medium. Place the tissue paper over this and continue until the entire egg is covered. We also got brave and allowed our Brownie troop to roll the eggs in glitter. (By the way, the girls were great and we had very little mess from this.)

One of the other crafts I have tried with my troop was making bunnies from the Styrofoam eggs. These turned out so very cute, but were a bit labor intensive as far as cutting the materials for each bunny. Here is the link and picture for this project:
