Mothers Day Poem - simple tips to write your own

A Mothers Day Poem is the perfect way to celebrate your mom and let her know how much you care. Make your expression of love as unique as your mother is by writing your own poem. It's easier than you think!

Your mom is special and she deserves to be honored for her special gifts. This motherís day, why not write her a poem from your heart? Here are some simple tips for writing a poem that sheís sure to remember and brag to all of her friends about:

1 - Make it very personal.
Think about all the thins your mother has done for you and moments you have shared. Pick one or two things and make a list of all the words that come to mind. For example, if you and your mom enjoy gardening together, list the types of plants you have grown.

2 - Keep it simple.
Now that you have your list, write words that rhyme with them. You donít need to have any idea how youíre going to put it together yet, just see how many words you can come up with.

3 - Create your sentences.
Look over your list and see if some natural sentences present themselves. Write the sentences out without trying to put them into a specific order yet.

4 - Arrange the sentences.
Now that you have a bunch of random sentences, link them together in a way that fits. Switch them around and see what sounds best. On a word processor itís easy to cut and paste the sentences to achieve the perfect poem.

5 - Have fun with your poem!
Itís ok to get wacky and have some fun with your motherís day poem. Make mom smile with your creative arrangement and sense of humor.

6 - Avoid perfectionism.
Just like the macaroni necklace you made for her in elementary school, she will cherish your poem because you took the time to make it special for her. Sheís not going to grade you on punctuation or look for perfect sentence structure.

7 - Decorate your Poem.
Your mother is going to keep your poem for a long time and show it to everyone she knows, so make the presentation worthy of the time you spent writing it. Chose some nice paper and add whatever embellishments youíd like.

The style, length and structure of your poem are less important than the heart you put into writing. Your mother will remember that you cared enough to spend time writing something special just for her.
