The Healthaliciously Good Cookbook Review

Fourteen year old Aurélie Paré’s passion for cooking began when she was in charge of making a weekly dinner for her family. After getting her feet wet in the kitchen, she started experimenting with healthy recipes. The more she cooked, the more fun she had, and before long she had created an impressive recipe collection. Aurélie became inspired to share her recipes with the world. After several years of hard work and dedication, The Healthaliciously Good Cookbook went was transformed from an inspiration to a reality.

The Healthaliciously Good Cookbook was published in March 2009, and is spiral bound with gloss coated pages, making it very kitchen friendly. It contains over eighty healthy recipes, along with twenty color photographs.

In addition to the wonderful recipes, Aurélie included a huge amount of helpful information for any cook. For example, she explains the basic preparatory tools and kitchen equipment to storing and preparing foods. She also provides cooking charts for grains and legumes, which appear in many of her recipes.

You’ll also learn about the spices, herbs, and seasoning mixes used throughout the cookbook. If you are interested in making your own ingredients, she provides simple step by step instructions in the glossary of ingredients.

Finally, if you’re looking to make a meal with ingredients you already have in your kitchen, you can take advantage of the Ingredient Index page at the back of the cookbook. There are fifty-five ingredients listed, with the recipe name and corresponding page number under each ingredient.

Each recipe in the cookbook is clearly written and easy to understand. Below each recipe, Aurélie provides helpful tips and additional notes. You’ll find easily identifiable symbols next to the recipes for the kitchen tools you’ll need for each recipe.

Some of the recipes my family has enjoyed thus far include: Chickpea Vegetable Soup, Red Pepper Extravaganza Pasta, Pomegranate Clementine Salad, Lemony Potato Pizza, and the Bugs Bunny Smoothie.

The Healthaliciously Good Cookbook is unique because Aurélie breaks down healthy cooking techniques in ways that both kids and adults can understand.

This is much more than just an ordinary cookbook. It’s an excellent learning tool for families, written by a very smart and creative young author.
